There’s a really good chance that you might find yourself in the scenario above within the next couple of weeks - there’s an item that you don’t really need, but if it’s a good enough deal, you’d pull the trigger. The question now is, how do you know whether or not you’re getting a good deal?
When looking through ad scans this holiday season, be sure to use the Slickdeals search tool before actually planning your purchases so you’re aware of an item's price history. The Slickdeals community truly is a wealth of resources that has crowd-sourced the best prices for thousands of products with all the caveats of coupon stacking and rebate redeeming. This information is freely available not just for today’s deals, but also for deals in the past. To figure out if you’re really getting a good deal, here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Enter a keyword in the search box on the upper right corner of the homepage. In this case, the keyword would be '42" TV', but you could be as specific as you'd like to be.
- You’ll see all the deals that have been posted with the keyword you’ve searched for. To find out which deals were worthwhile, click on either the “Popular Deals” or “Frontpage” tabs. Keep in mind that there are times when the best deals go out of stock before they hit the front page, so it’s always a good idea to check “Popular Deals”.
- The deals are listed in chronological order. To get the highest rated deals, click on “Rating”.
- Voila! Pick the relevant deals that are comparable to what you’re searching for and decide whether or not you’re really getting a good deal!

Where there have been 42" for under $299. Yes, clearance, but about as hard to get as the BF Doorbusters. (And you can at least swing by Starbucks and hit the restroom and sit in a nice heated / cooled car when looking for Clearance stuff.)
The point I was trying to get across is that most of the time, Slickdeals purchases are impulse buys ("I don't really need this item, but this looks like a great price and I might need it at some point!") and the search tool helps users realize that sometimes, it's not really that great a price if you check previous deals.

i was like totally pumped up when i saw the camel camel camel like icons and charts, i was like WoW, that would be so neat, and then i click in and saw this primitive method, anyone has half a brain would figure this out...
