DEAL IS DEAD!!!
there's also refurb 3225 for $69 shipped and it has text-to-speech. LINX [buy.com] excellent reviews...just ordered.
(also at Amazon, 3225, no tax, free ship w/prime, http://www.amazon.com/Magellan-Ma...slickdeals )
Refurbs do not qualify for Map Update. The 3200 listed on this thread is marked "New" on the receipt, there shouldn't be a problem getting the Map Update.

Looks like the 3225 is better anyway, more memory and a data cable.
Just wanted to post this update. I had this occur last night (3.05.09)
I got the DVD map update, when to install it, found out I have to register the unit before I get an Authorization code. Sent an email to Magellan CS stating I can't install the map update because I can't register my GPS. Gave them my account info to login and register it for me. They wouldnt do that. Emailed back and forth several times yesterday. Talked on the phone multiple times throughout the day.
Finally at about 7:45 last night I received a phone call from Magellan stating that they had a solution for me. They said they would send me a brand spanking new unit, I could return my 3200C(rap) with no accessories, and the new unit they would ship would have the most current maps. I asked him if it was going to be the same unit and he said no, it would be the RoadMate 1212. I looked this unit up and it seems that this unit is very similar to the 3200, but with one major upgrade, Text-to-speech. So this new unit will say "Turn left on Washington St." rather than "Turn left in 50 yards". Seems like I got a pretty sweet deal. The reviews on the 1212 that I have found online have been very positive.
So not only am I getting a new GPS (from Magellan), I also have the map update they sent me too. Going to check out the firmware and map info when it arrives. Now all I have to do is revert my 3200C back to the 1.6 million POI's and send it back to Magellan. They said they are trying to figure out what's up with this unit.
Hope this helps some people out.

On the magellan web site, must be done in the first 30 days and show proof of purchase
I though I got a good deal BUT this is GREAT. It is a "no thrills" gps but is has stuff you will use. Very simple and easy to use. I love the auto complete when you type in a street or city. It does not come with a USB cable but if you have the small camera usb cable it will work. The one thing I don't like is the keyboard layout is abc and not qwerty so it takes some to get use to. The voice is clear and not annoying. To get max life when on battery dim the screen. It is not fancy but does a great job.

This though is a great price for a good GPS, very pleased with mine.
