Kind of on the low end, right?
most systems out there right now are sata || or even sata | so this drive is good enough for most systems.
a sata ||| would be overkill.
I'm currently running an old Core 2 Duo system with Win XP and need to replace a HDD that just died, and I'm looking to get an SSD. However, I intend to do a full mobo upgrade in the next 6 months (most likely to an i5 2500k with Win 7). I'd been looking at the Crucial M4 but obviously this drive is about 40% cheaper. In my position, would you jump on this deal or pay more for the Crucial, which I presume is built for newer systems?

That being said, it seems like a decent deal for an upgrade for an older computer if it doesn't die on you. Newegg also has the 60GB version for $60 - $10MIR.

the Vertex Plus features the revolutionary new Indilinx Arowana FTL with HyperQueuing, which significantly increases sequential write speeds and random IOPS over the previous generation FTL.
