Gamestop put the price for the Playstation 3 (PS3) regular controller at $19.99 (regularly $59.99) each on 11/25/2011 (Black Friday). It was not certain that it publicly advertised the price on the front page. This is a day when many retailers give deep discounts for many products to attract customers to their stores or website. Given the history of PS3 Move accessories prices that first discounted 50 percent by Gamestop, it was reasonable for customers to expect the PS3 controller will be discounted at even lower rate like this to attract more customers to its website and stores. However, Gamestop decided to cancel all or most of controller orders by claiming a price mistake. The damage Gamestop has done was harmful to other retailers as customers would have not shopped or cancelled their orders at other retailers for the same product. It also caused inconvenience or damage to customers who placed order(s) for the product. Many customers spent time ordering the products at Gamestop.com, and decided not not to buy or cancelled their orders from other retailers that gave less discount for the product and missed the limited-time discount after Gamestop canceled the orders. It was reported that Gamestop has repeatedly priced its product at much lower rate to attract more customers and cancel their orders claiming price mistakes. This is considered as bait and switch tactics.

For those who claim eBay sells them cheaper, look again. They may be the fakes/replicas.

Gamestop canceling orders

This is the email I received today, after I got one last night. Sucks!!! Anyone else got it?

Dear GameStop Customer,
This email is in regard to your recent order number 4111126022484259 containing one or more PS3 Dual Shock Controllers. These were inaccurately priced on GameStop.com last night due to an error and your order for the controller will be cancelled. We apologize for this mistake and hope you will shop with us again.

^ Gamestop does not owe anyone anything; a person made a mistake at Gamestop and this is how they chose to fix it. If this pissed you off, then vote with your choice of where to shop.
^ for a seemingly large company, i would say that "mistake" shows a great lack of professionalism on their part.
