Sears - $0.06 per load (if you buy 5 boxes at $11 per box), works fine with very low residue;
Costco - don't know the price (cheaper than Tide), nice scent but left too much residue in machine - had to stop using it - really wished it would have worked out better;
Tide - $0.17 per load (if you buy biggest box at my local grocery or Sam's Club), cleans well with nice scent and very low residue.
So the price per load of Sears is about 1/3 the price of Tide with similar results in my Kenmore HE front load machine.
I won't get into the debate of how often to wash clothes but ever since my college days of wearing the same unwashed jeans for far too long and not having enough quarters for the laundromat - Now I REALLY appreciate clean clothes!
For baby laundry it is very good. I have horrible skin allergies and this is the only soap I can use that does not make me itch.
I even tried the highly rated cloth baby diaper detergents listed on the diaper forums and cant use them because they make me itch so either they arent as non toxic as they claim or they dont rinse as well as the sears detergent does.
So save your cash and go with sears. Avoid spending $12 for a small bag of really cool looking baby diaper wash and buy this instead.
I keep it in a small pet food container I purchased at walmart. It has a hinged lid and I just put the soap still in the liner bag right into the container. No muss no fuss.
Do you change clothes before each meal? I am one person and wash once every week!

Ugh.

PS: I lived in Germany for three years, so I've experienced an environment where people wear the same clothes for a few days in a row. But still, the lack of washing routine for some of you guys seems like the sort of frugality that is on par w/fast food ketchup package theft. I mean, the guy who only washes once a week, that means he isn't washing his bed linens. Gross...
We don't really need to know how often people wash their undies or their linens.
Please stick to the deal on hand... Good detergent, great price.
Start the washer, slowly add the powder, then add clothes. Doing that method you mentioned clumps for me!

Towels, sheets and whites are all sanitized. We just have a large enough washer that more clothes fit than yours.
We change out towels once a week. There are 3 of us. We use bath poofs so no wash cloths and my husband uses a cloth to shave. He shaves every other day. We shower every day.
We change sheets once a week but since we have a gigantic washer we can run those every other week.
I also have kitchen towels but those are washed every other month on the sanitary setting.

Thanks OP, great price.
