I bought a few of the Cricket ZTE Score phones a few weeks ago when Best Buy had them for $29.95. They can definitely be used without activating the cell part. I just put them on Airplane mode (to save power from searching for cell service) and turned on Wi-fi. It is basically a great MP3 player / Android OS device without the phone part.

I also was able to set up W-ifi calling on this via Google Voice and that works great as well

You won't be able to use it on any other cell service other than Cricket, but if you aren't intending on using it for cell service via the cell network, this works great for the price!

Also, I can confirm the full Google Marketplace (well, now called Play Store).

Someone on one of the other threads thought it wasn't the full marketplace because when they searched for a specific app, they couldn't find it. However, we figured out that it was simply that the specific app they were looking for wasn't compatible with the phone, so it wasn't showing on their search list.

Yes it will. You might want to get a different MicroSD if you choose not to use Crickets music service. The card is a 4GB, but its partitioned where the music service gets 3GB, and only 1GB for user stuff.

Screw it. I'm back in for more. The international buyiing penality sucks though. But I have reward certs to burn.

Value for the phone and speaker have dropped like crazy...

I think I got the Amazon price for the speaker wrong.. it shows 60$ for the silver one and 80$ for the black one... With the phone and speaker for 50$, this should be a front page deal.

For all Android enthusiasts like me, your best bet....!! You cannot get any branded cell phone for 50 bucks.
