Yes, but you can get a USB OTG adapter for $2-8 on eBay, depending on how long you want to wait for shipping (China vs. US reseller). This allows attaching a flash drive or many other (self-powered) USB devices. The newer Galaxy 10.1 ("Galaxy Tab 2") will have MicroSD, but still the dock connector. Not sure about the 8.9, no update announced AFAIK to add MicroSD or update other specs.
