+4 DJ!
my gaming pc core components (Q9300 cpu, 8gb ddr2, Gigabyte EP45 mobo) are all from 2008 but still running strong. I upgraded the vid card a while back from an ATI 4850 to a 5850 and I think this will last me another year or 2 at least if i can resist temptation... running BF3, Witcher 2, SC2, etc, just fine on medium/high settings.
Thanks! We might have a Knicks vs Heat matchup

For $100 less you give up blu-ray and 1080p. Why a gamer need these? Radeon 7690m is overkill for watching movies.
gaming pc or this laptop for gaming ... hmm
I only managed to get a cpu build for $700 with intel core i5 - 2500k sandy bridge 3.3ghz (3.7ghz turbo boost lga 1155 9w quad core desktop processor intel hd graphics 3000 with ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card, ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 but i7 cost too much
As people said, get/build gaming desktop. Laptops are for mobility, saving space...Besides, this particular POS tends to overhead and cook the video GDRAM chips /particularly one of the 4 installed PGAs/ after a roughly year of use. The video subsystem is mobo integrated, refurbished mobo is around $200 on ebay - if you can or want to replace mobo in a laptop
I am patiently waiting for nice IvyBridge non-additional-GPU or similar AMD APUs in a sleek solid aluminum bodies to come out later this year. Something like the Asus Zenbook, but much cheaper
