For those who have never used LED light bulbs, keep in mind the function more like a spot light than a traditional light bulb. That is to say they are very directional, they don't disperse outward like a normal light bulb.
There are very many types of LED lights. Some are dimmable and some are not. They all have different combinations of colors; eventhough most bulbs produce white light they can vary (slightly) in the actual light produced. You need to read the description of LED lights. LED bulbs can be used to replace traditional light bulbs.Think about it; most light bulbs are in a lamp with a shade. A substantial amount of light hitting the shade is wasted. Most of the light from a traditional light bulb goes up. The light going up from a LED bulb is being used more efficiently.
(I'm sorry for having a discussion in the wiki) But shades have a big hole on top, most of the light goes straight up in a LED bulb, your shade theory goes out the window.

That said 5000K is very cold for indoor use... I would not recommend anything colder than 3500K for room illumination with 2800K being closer to incandescent bulb temperature.
At this price I thought it was worth a shot to try out (30watt). First trial usage will be an outside motion sensor light , then inside three light bathroom fixture . Report back later .
Just a heads up : the coupon code LEDBULB40 can only be used ONCE per account !
I tried to order the 40watt today and says the coupon code has already been used (when I ordered the 30watt a few days ago) , and can not be used again with my account .
