No, this is great for that purpose. Its only bad if you don't like extra room..
Lots of room to move around, store your stuff, and if it rains a little bit the extra space is great. My wife and I (with the dog) have a very similar model, I was thinking about gifting this to my brother.

When it comes to car camping, it's hard to go "too big." If you're not a huge camper, you'll really appreciate the ability to spread out - use two separate beds or have one side of the tent for sleeping, one side for changing clothes/hanging out if it rains. You'll probably want to invest in some better tent stakes, as the ones in the bag are essentially "pegs." Honestly you'd be fine with them, but they bend easy going into hard ground and are a little difficult to extricate from the ground when you're done. I use these ABS plastic stakes for most car camping trips - stupid cheap and very durable.

You'll want metal stakes in more extreme conditions, but if you're just headed to a park or out by the lake, I swear by the plastic stakes. Loop some para cord or even just twine through the little eye hole to make pulling them out super easy.

ours is a 14x14 and perfect for us. as in most cases too big is better that too small

These stakes are straight money, and cheap (6 for $3 at WalMart). I've used seven or eight different kinds of stakes camping in the woods out to the Nevada desert for Burning Man, and these beat everything else hands down. They're light, strong, and cheap enough to be easily replaceable.
