the 6950 is about equal (sometimes slightly faster/sometimes slightly slower) to the GTX 480 at higher resolutions. At lower resolutions, the 480 will be faster than the 6950 and approach 6970 speeds. The downside with the GTX 480 is its louder and consumes more electricity. At the lower resolutions though, you're getting such high FPS that it probably doesn't matter for the extra 5-15 frames.

So go with either card, though I like this deal due to the dual-fan cooling.

I'm basing it on Anandtech's review. Though I admit the reviews are dated and at the time i remember people claiming the Fermi would perform better once the drivers matured.

This would be a nice upgrade for my Sappire HD 5850. If I had a freind in the market for a new video card who lived nearby. I could rationalize it if I could score the $183 each deal. I thought I got the greatest deal ever 1 1/2 years ago when I picked up my HD 5850 for $200 (and that was after rebates)! Oh decisions, decisions......

I was thinking the same thing. Too bad none of my friends need one. Oh well I smell better deals when Nvidia release their mid range cards. Must resist!

I have a 6870 also and can run current games on medium. I play at 1920x1200.

I do turn on AS and AA though. Most people don't.

While that is a great price from your friend, check into Micro Stuttering in crossfire. It's a known issue that has occurred since the 3xxx series.

My card is overclocked a decent amount (w/o cooling add-ons). I turn on AS, but don't use AA on the more demanding games (Skyrim, Witcher 2, Crysis 2, BF3). I run at 1920x1080. Most games run about 30-50 FPS. Nothing mindblowing, but it looks good.

Ah, that may be why we're differing in experience.

I like to keep things above ~60fps. So I'll change settings to get it there. I usually end up around medium with AS and AA both at 2x(I can't see a difference with higher).

Wow I just got off of the most stupid customer service argument I've ever had. Apparently they will no longer honor the Volume Discount of 2+ for $229.99 ea. This representative pretty much just called me a liar, and that she and her supervisor have no history of that deal ever taking place on that card and that "Newegg does not EVER offer volume discounts. Only NeweggBusiness."

They had me order a second card at $199.99 again FOR NO REASON (Instead of $183.99). So now I have to deal with those funds missing in my bank account for the next few days.

I'm done ordering from Newegg after that experience. Amazon just got one damn loyal customer.
