Agreed. You need 5/32 bit for 3/16" tapcons. Not sure what I would need 1/8" bit for.

I have a set of Craftsman bits that are a lot better than some of the cheaper bits I have bought in the past. I am a DIYer but the best bits I have found for the price are Dewalt. The Dewalt bits really seem to hold up

Can't agree more about rotary hammer. I used a standard 18v driver/drill with masonry bit to get through some concrete pavers and it wasn't a fun/short process. About 2wks ago, I purchased the Makita 1" rotary hammer drill (comes with 4.5" angle grinder) for 199$ -10% post office mailer at Home Depot and it was astonishingly easier. It literally took less than 30 seconds to get through. Makita SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer 1" with 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder [homedepot.com]

It all depends on your needs. The bit in the thread may work for what you have to do - for my needs it was a great excuse to buy another power tool!

uh... kids, you CANNOT use a regular drill for these. It just doesnt work. The tip is dull, you need the hammering action of the hammer drill to cut through masonry.

can this be used to drill wood?

How do these compare to carbide tips? I had some cheap tips last weekend similar to these and they drilled perhaps 3 4" holes each before being worthless. Just seems they are disposable.

You're not kidding. On my dremel, an old high priced solid tungsten carbide bit is still sharp and going strong no matter what I've thrown at it.

The cheapie bits, not so much. I've had the regular bits go dull attempting to cut into 1" square rod hollow stock (the stuff yard gates are made of).
