I have one too. It is the best stud finder I have found so far . It has worked fantastically on the project that I am currently doing, hanging Gladiator tracks in my drywalled garage. I have several other brands that just can't perform as well.

Does anyone have any experience using it with plaster walls?

Have ordered one, lets see how it works. I have a move coming along and this should come in handy when I get into the new house.

I also would be interested to know how it performs with plaster walls as well. With drywall I have the giant magnet thing that sticks to nails and just guess hope that I don't hit electricity. But looking to upgrade as I have a home with more plaster walls than drywalls.

Reviews aren't that good. I ordered one anyway..may decide to cancel later.

When looking for studs in my plastered kitchen my old stud finder did not work at all, so I bought a new more expensive one that also didn't work so I did a little research and found that most people say stud finders have very little use on plaster walls.

stud finders send a signal through the wall and look for varying depths of material, so once it hits a different depth it assumes a stud, plaster walls have little plugs called plaster keys that cause stud finders to basically be useless, they misfire or detect nothing.

I had much better luck finding a stud and measuring the 16" on center to find a next one, often ended up drilling a few holes to hit the stud but all is covered by cabinets

I would think a really strong magnet might work if it can get through the layers of plaster to the nails holding the lath, or the gypsum lath they used in my house, to the studs

I have had pretty good luck on plaster walls with a low-tech magnet stud finder. If you find one and then measure every 16 inches, you get a good idea of where to look for the rest.

As much as my inner handy man/ gadget whore would like this, Rosewill is a brand I just dont have faith in, especially when trying to detect electricity and studs. The reviews seem to reflect that.

My father/grandfather are extremely handy, so I grew up measuring every 16" and using the "tap" method which has never failed them/me.
