I post this deal a month ago. Now it is live again.

Walmart just reduced this GPS by $10. Now it is $79.99 before tax. Shipping to store is free. For me it is $1.97 to be shipped to home.
Refurbished GPS carries the same warranty as brand new ones which is one year.
It is a basic model. But it has lifetime map update, lifetime traffic (with free ads), and bluetooth.
I really do not need this GPS. But for only $80, it can be a great backup.

Can you tell me how the traffic works? All I see is a green circle which sometimes says, delay by a few minutes, etc. Does the gps lady actually talk to us when a reroute is required?
Thanks. I really would like to know how cool this traffic thing is.
LM= Lifetime Maps
LT= Lifetime Traffic
LMT= Lifetime Maps and Traffic
The map updates have to be done through your computer, and can also be put on a SD card (sold separately - any brand will do) so that you don't have to overwrite the initial map data. This way if you have trouble with the update, you can just eject the SD card and be back to stock.
I also undertand that the adds are only allowed to be displayed while the car is stopped, and is not supposed to be active when the car is moving as a safety precaution. While some are very turned off by the add data, most find them to be unobtrusive and small. And as always, an angry person is more prone to write a negative review than a satisfied person who got exactly what they expected. When looking at ratings, we need to understand this skew.
Since adds are only present when stopped, if you have been paying attention to where you are supposed to be turning before you stop, it shouldn't be an issue. And if you're sitting at a light wondering which way to go, it's probably a little late for you anyway. Not to mention that there are audible directions prior to and at every turn.

The traffic receiver is part of the DC adapter in your automobile, making it essentially invisible to you. As you are driving, it is a receiver of publicly broadcast traffic information for the area you are in (thus the service is free) "when available" as not all areas will have these broadcasts set up. When your Garmin detects these broadcasts, it somehow compares your location and planned route. Garmin puts a little traffic icon on you display, indicating how traffic will affect your travel.
The icon is color coded--Green for no problems, yellow for some delay, and red for major delay. I think Garmin takes into account the delays on your route in calculating the arrival time. It does look for alternate routes, and I believe that if it finds a better one, it will automatically reroute you.
If you tap on the traffic icon, Garmin takes you to another screen with three options: 1. view traffic map 2: see traffic on route and 3: see traffic in area:
1. view traffic map: This simply changes your navigation map slightly so that the bad traffic areas are highlighted (in yellow or red) as you drive.
2. Traffic on route gives you a zoomed-out map showing where you are and where the traffic issues are
3: Traffic in area shows a list of all the major roads in your area for which there are reports and color codes them.
I have also heard complaints that the delay calculated can be much different than the actual time spent waiting at a delay, and therefore is only helpful when correct. Some users in certain areas report differences of as much as a 2 minute listed delay adding a whole hour to their travel. I feel that these delays are less common, but the receiver can only work with the traffic information it receives.

Thanks, OP.

Also, I don't live in an area where there is traffic reporting, and I haven't seen any ads. I'm sure they will show up when I drive to an area that has traffic, but so far, the ads have been a non-issue.
