Quite a few reviewers complained about the shade being made of plastic. My take is that that's perfectly acceptable for the price, but it would probably be more attractive in the torchierre configuration (pointing toward the ceiling) than in the 60-degree downward configuration. Apparently it can do both.

On another note, does anyone know what is the biggest CFL that one can find in a store like Home Depot or Lowes? I've never found anything brighter than a 100w equivalent, but I used halogens for years so everything feels a bit dim by comparison. (I don't miss the heat or the electric bills though.)

There's not much to say: very wobbly, power cord came stained with melted-on styrofoam, and the styrofoam packaging fell apart as I unpacked this thing.

The one reason I give it two stars and not just one is that the swivel feature is nice, letting this be either a downward or upward-facing lamp. But you can buy one of each, of similar or better quality, for less than this in total...

The shade doesn't fit quite right either. This is the second Adesso product I've bought; the other one was a bit better, but suffered from the same basic flaw of being an obviously cheap product. I only paid $34 for this lamp, but I suspect it cost more like $3.40 to put together.

...I decided to send it back, expecting a BIT more quality for $34. Repacking it was a bit of a pain, since getting the product and the packaging (seriously, this was the worst styrofoam I've ever seen) back in the box left me with a pretty decent mess of styrofoam bits to clean up. I'm glad I repacked it in an empty hallway just for that reason!

I bought a couple of these a year ago for my apartment. They're marginally better than the $9 floor lamps at target.
