Costco makes the most out of membership fees. These club memberships r better for those who could consume the humongous portions quickly. Their portions are too much.

Pellets last longer than solar salt. As far as being told to use salt over pellets you were told wrong. Morton System Saver II pellets are among the best, and clean your softener system using them. If you don't use Morton System Saver II pellets all of the time, for cost or other reasons, it is good to at least use them every few months.

Does Sears take coupons? I have a few coupons for Morton salt and the only place that carries it near me is Walmart and I try to avoid that place as much as possible.
If I could coupons, this would make it worth going a little out of my way to stock up.

HOW is this a front page deal? Saving 75 cents on a freaking bag of softener salt? How many does a person honestly buy at once...maybe 10 bags for a 3 month supply? Wow...you save $7.50. Now you can buy a value meal at McDonalds on your way home with 400lbs of salt in your trunk.

You are correct and wrong. It depends on whether you are single or haul a family. Membership stores are great for families with pets. If you are single, it doesnt make sense to join one. You purchase by the volume. What I do is go there for everything but fresh produce and meats. I go safeway for that. I also buy milk using just 4 u and a 55 cent coupon and the milk becomes much cheaper than Sams or Costco who dont take coupons.

Have you ever paid for Amazon Prime? If not, would you if your savings would cover the cost of membership and, in my case, pay for it 20 times over in shipping cost savings? Same thing goes for Costco, BJ's, Sam's Club. If it makes sense over the course of a year and you know you will save money, it is stupid not to take advantage of it. It is s slick deal.

Do they not use a binder to create the pellet? I guess I could of went into more detail. I was told the downside of pellet salt is that a binder is used to hold the pellets together and this sometimes can caus problems. I can obvously use whatever I chose, I was just givent he advanges/disadvantages of both and use solar salt..

I'm a single guy. I have a girlfriend and we live together, but no kids or other family.

I save $15/mo in gas alone ($.10c/gal x 15gal/fillup x 10 fillups (both of us)). Just the gas savings makes it worth it ($180/yr - $39 fee). For one of me, the savings is $7.50/month for gas, making it still a $51 savings after the fee.

I buy various other items in bulk because they don't spoil or we use them quick enough. The savings on drinks, condiments, cereals, treats, frozen meals, bread, milk, and meats is huge over other local stores, so I would say that I save a decent amount.

I buy my pet food at Petsmart and use a manufacturer's coupon I get from their website every time.
