Here are the Real facts on the so called Recall as of 7/25/2012 No Recall has been Issued No Order to Refund has been Issued only a Complaint by the CPSC has been filed
Product Recall? Buckyballs Are Dangerous to Swallow
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has requested a recall of the magnetic toys known as Buckyballs and Buckycubes because they pose a serious health hazard to children who ingest them.
CPSC Sues Maxfield & Oberton Over Hazardous Buckyballs® and Buckycube™ Desk Toys
Action prompted by ongoing harm to children from ingested magnets
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In an effort to prevent children from suffering further harm, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff filed an administrative complaint today against Maxfield & Oberton Holdings LLC, of New York, N.Y., alleging that Buckyballs and Buckycubes contain a defect in the design, packaging, warnings, and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury to the public. The Commission voted 3-1 to approve the filing of the complaint, which seeks, among other things, an order that the firm stops selling Buckyballs and Buckycubes, notify the public of the defect, and offer consumers a full refund.

All companies have received voluntary stop-sale requests including Zen Magnets
More misinformation No Mandatory Refund all of this has has not even gone to court to be heard by a Judge on the CPSC complaint.
WRONG. The whole reason they are being taken to court is because they are ignoring the government order to halt sales and provide consumers with refunds.
And Again some posters don't understand that Buckyballs didn't cave into the CPSC voluntary order to recall this product and refund money the CPSC was forced to file a lawsuit and this matter will be decided by a judge so again No Refund as of now you can read the CPSC Press Release here http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prere...12234.html

Video comparing quality between Buckyballs and Zen Magnets:Zen Magnets has also been asked to stop selling the product.

Quote : Purveyors and purchasers of small, tiny, spherical magnets take note: You're dealing in forbidden goods. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a ban on the sale of Buckyballs, an "educational toy" consisting of a handful of small, tiny magnets. The ban is the agency's first in the last 11 years, and apparently there's a solid reason behind it. If swallowed individually, Buckyballs could possibly reattach somewhere in your intestines, damaging tissue to the point where surgery would be required. According to an American Academy of Pediatrics report, there were 60 magnet ingestion cases over the last two years which resulted in 26 surgeries. At least 22 of these cases were connected with Buckyballs. A number of retailers from Amazon.com to Urban Outfitters have agreed to stop selling the balls, but the creators of the product are digging their heels into the ground and turning the issue into an election year missive on the president. Buckyball creator Craig Zucker says he will "vigorously fight this action taken by President Obama's handpicked agency." "As a small business owner I'm left wondering what to tell my employees and their families. How can this happen in America," grandstanded Zucker. If you've purchased the balls in the past, the creators of Buckyballs have been directed by the government to provide refunds. |

Unfortunately my order was cancelled because the Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled Buckyballs because some irresponsible parents bought these for their kids and then blamed the company when their children choked on them. Any sensible person knows that there are meant for adults.
I contacted the company voicing my disappointment and this is the reply I got:
Hi there.
We hear ya, and we feel your pain! Groupon pulled a fast one on all of us and there's nothing fun about it. But just because Groupon let you down doesn't mean we will.
Use the promo code "SuckitGroupon" for 45% OFF plus free shipping on all purchases at www.GetBuckyballs.com.
Happy ballin',
Team Bucky
Use on site for Buckeyballs, Buckeycubes or anything else they sell!
Suckitgroupon at checkout to get 45% off + Free shipping+ No tax. Ended up being cheaper than the deal I got from Groupon!!
Merchants are pulling them due to controversy. They do not want to deal with opportunist returns & whiners etc...
i really love them now
Note that there are warnings all on the box not to swallow etc..
What a stupid ban... A couple idiot parents let their children play with them, so of course we have to ban them! Won't somebody think of the children??!! http://www.reuters.com/article/20...LN20120725
