Yep. Clean install of win7 ultimate, latest fw and everything. Works fine in IDE but I only get 6.9 on WEI. I was just going to live with it, but heck, this deal is good enough to just make the change over.

I returned an SSD I ordered from Amazon because the packaging was dented during shipping. They sent me a free return shipping label and refunded me 100%. All I had to provide was a box and some bubble wrap. It was very no hassle.

No that won't work. If you installed the OS with IDE then switch to AHCI later, it will still BSOD. You'll have to enable AHCI at the first place when installing the OS...

Just to cover all the bases, the original suggestion of clean install meant another clean install AFTER switching to AHCI mode. You did that right?

It wasn't detected in AHCI. Had to use IDE.

Not to derail this deal or anything, regardless if it's my error or just the drive, it's going back.

That is a problem if it wasn't detected in AHCI mode while trying to install Windows 7.

might be driver issue if you window 7 disk/installation unit doesn't have the proper driver, it won't detect the SATA drive, this was the problem in XP that people had to slip stream the driver in the disk, for window 7 the problem might occur if your hardware is too new for the old window 7 to detect.

and even if you install in IDE, you still can config your registry for it to take AHCI... there's plenty of guides to do that on google.

You can change to AHCI without reinstalling. I did it. There are a bunch of guides showing registry edits that will trigger windows to install drivers on the restart. I no longer have the link bookmarked. Sorry.

It will work back to the 2008 Unibody MacBook - I just put 2x4GB 1333MHz in mine. Works in iMacs too!

I pulled the trigger. Came out to $103 with a bracket and TX sales tax. Would've bought the 830 from newegg, but had an Amazon gift card balance I wanted to use.
