good deal on a great camera that packs a fast lens perfect for good pictures even in low light. add the 5x optical wide angle and image stabalized zoom along with canons newer and faster digic5 processor and multiple shooting options and this is a powerful compact point and shoot

i dont think some of you know the capabilities and benefits of this camera, so other point and shoots are fine

My mom has that camera. The UI sucks on it. No, it REALLY SUCKS! Nothing about it is intuitive. After you spend a month with the Canon and set up all the custom controls, it is fairly quick to switch modes and settings (not talking about the new touch screen Canons, those suck!).

If you guys looking for cheap cameras then this is not the thread to be in. If you don't know what the Canon S95, S100 and S105 offers then better move along. If you want a cheap cameras with basic options, there are plenty of those around

This is like people commenting on a thread about IPS panels monitors and ask why not buy this and that monitor for $100 cheaper /facepalm

This camera has a much higher quality sensor (CMOS sensor, I think it's called). Most other cameras in this size range don't have this. So, this camera supposedly has fewer artifacts when used in darkness, and it might have better colors.

Also, it can shoot in RAW mode (I don't use), and it has a twisty thing around the lens for changing focal point, zoom, colors, etc.

I have the S90, so I am wondering how the S100 has changed.

Looks like the S100 has built-in GPS. Holy eff - how does this hurt the battery life? The S90 already has less-than-stellar battery life.

Bigger sensor than typical P&Ss, and a fairly fast lens at least on the wide end, in a tiny body that's pocketable even with a case on it.

Sensor size makes a huge difference in image quality and low light performance.

Apparently there is a well known "lens retraction" problem associated with some of the S100 cameras with the following serial numbers. If you are planning to pick up locally you should check the serial numbers:
