I just bought the Norton Internet Security 3-user pack a few weeks ago when it was FAR. I am quite impressed with it. I've had no performance issues since install. It actually improved boot time by a few seconds compared to MSE that I used to run.
Started to use it when Cnet reported that it was no longer a memory hog. Sure you can get Avast for free, but my thoughts are how hard to people work or get paid, when your app is free? I use McAfee in a corporate environment, so don't get me started on that, i am always cleaning malware from computers. Yes we do have the Spyware/malware package from McAfee, but it is junk.
is 360 like Mcafee TOTAL which includes everything and some utility ?
From a PC Magaine review in 2008 [pcmag.com]: (covering NIS 2009)
This is definitely the slimmest, most unobtrusive Norton ever. Its protection is top-notch where it counts, though antispam and parental controls are still weak. As the best all-around security suite yet (I'll be installing it myself), it's our new Editors' Choice.
What is the difference between the $90 version and the $80 version?
