That's what I was checking as well. It uses 6 different ink cartridges, Pigment black (for regular document printing), black (for photos/HQ printings/etc), cyan, magenta, yellow, grey. Each cartridge costs $5-6 on some ink sites and apparently they can be replaced individually.

That was mentioned as being compatible by one of the reviews for this printer on Amazon. Confused if it is $5 for all the 6 inks. Seems real cheap.

Yes. And searching for mg6220 on slick deals brings up other ink deals like 2 packs for $10 with fs.... hitting the buy button now. Will regret impulse buy in 1 hr. Damn you slick deals...!!

I have the 8120 model and it's pretty much the same with more features. It eats up ink and I use the refillable cartridges from Ebay to save a ton. You also could go with the ink cartridges on ebay that are throwaway and turn them into staples. The ink quality is pretty good for photos but canon ink is the best but very expensive.

One of the reviews I read on some website I cannot recall said it was still printing color well when the black cartridge ran out. Not sure about vice versa.

I think the Brother MFC-J435W is a better deal. lower price $50, and it supports Airprint, means if you have an Apple device (iPhone, iPad), you can print directly and wirelessly to it, cool?
