Great coffee on the go – it’s pretty much a birthright, isn’t it? We at BODUM certainly think so. That is why we’ve made getting your morning brew even more convenient. Instead of standing in line at the local coffee shop, you can make it in the comfort of your own home while getting dressed and ready for the day. It really is as simple as pressing a button to heat the water in a kettle. The ground coffee goes in the mug and, during the four minutes it takes to find your keys, develops to its full aroma. Press down the plunger and out the door you go

Key point: After you brew coffee for 4 minutes, you need to pour the coffee out of the French press into coffee mugs. This is how French Presses are supposed to work.
This product keeps the coffee in the Press for as long as you drink your coffee. IT IS CONTINUOUSLY BREWING! French Presses are not supposed double as travel mugs. This produce is a gimmick more than anything else.
gd pt. i plan on putting fresh ground beans in this at home in the AM. take it to work and use the hot water spigot to make the coffee and then pour into a ceramic mug. essentially i'll be using it mostly as:
1. a container for fresh ground beans (since i don't want to bring my grinder to work)
2. a portable french press that i can bring back home to put in my dishwasher without too much mess and hassle of my current french press i keep at work.
hopefully it will work out but thanks for informing people that the coffee will become overbrewed if you leave the pressed grounds in there too long
I don't know if I like the idea of the coffee staying in contact with the water after the steeping period, so I may use it JUST as a small french press, I'll have to see.
Thanks again, cool gadget.
I'd bring this along on trips but I wouldn't be steeping my coffee for too long. Tea, I don't mind. Not coffee.
In fact, there are some people who "brew" their coffee for 12 hours or more. Albeit in cold water.
Now tea tastes very bitter if you leave it too long, so maybe thats where this comes from?

I think the whole fear of "over-brewing," as it relates to coffee, comes from the "percolator." Most of you under 50 (I am just about at that mark.) probably don't even know what this is. I was too young to drink Coffee in the heyday of those devices, but, from what I've heard, that was really over-brewing. Constantly pouring boiling water over the grounds again and again. Ugh! Also, coffee probably sucked in those days, same as it did for wine and beer. Coffee fans, imagine a world with nothing but Folgers and MJB as your choices. So maybe even the percolator got a bad rap...
