Its hit or miss now. Used to be that they would only put their name on premium quality products. as the craze for the brand increased, they started producing all kinds of merchandise - some really cheap crap and some continuing to be at the same quality as before. Even the sizing is not standard anymore within what is considered to be a premium brand - just goes to show how they have lost control over manufacturing while sourcing everything on the cheap from you know where. NF is generally overpriced due to the brand name's allure. so don't go in expecting anything sporting the NF name is good quality but it will definitely get you to be held in good stead by society (specially Asians as I see them packing on a NF jacket, NF hat, NF backpack all at a time :-))...the same has happened with Columbia too.

I'm a big fan of Mountain Hardwear, Arc'teryx, Marmot, and Patagonia for clothing. For things like hiking boots, backpacks, tents there are some additional brands I like as well.
