FYI, I'm still waiting for an HD version of the Onimusha series. I enjoyed it much more than the DMC trilogy. Onimusha 3 still has some of the best boss fights in video game history.

Never played any of the games from this series. If I wasn't backlogged by 3-4 games already, I might try it out. Seems to be a very good price.

oh man I remember getting the original DMC3 where they ported the Japanese hard mode as the American Normal mode. That was a freaking challenge

4 is all right. DMC3 is still the best. I liked Bayonetta more than DMC4

I don't think DMC3 puts Ninja Gaiden to shame, NG3 maybe but not the first 2 created by Itagaki. To me NG1 and 2 are the greatest hack n slash games of last and this gen... followed by Bayonetta... then followed by DMC series. I leave God of War out of this comparison as it's tailored to the casual market with "hold my hand" gameplay.

Seems like a pretty bold statement to claim that critics and fans agree they are two of the best games released on the PS2...I typically try to stick with comments like "DMC 1 and 3 averaged "9.x" on metacritic" but whatever.

With that said, I enjoyed the first one but stopped after the abomination known as DMC 2. Love the HD collections though so this is very tempting. One reason holding me back right now is that I remember seeing several reviews making this release sound like an HD port done wrong. Any experiences?

I was just thinking about this the other day. The Onimusha series was one of my favorites and I'd buy an HD release on day one.
