When SSD drives were selling like hot cakes at premium pricing, OCZ was one of the first few in the market and was making tons of money on them. They even decided to drop most of their products and concentrate on SSD. I guess like most things, the good times can't last forever. Never put all your eggs in one basket is the lesson I guess.
I remember, before SSDs, OCZ was perceived as a pretty good brand. Now... after all the problems they've had with Sandforce controllers...
Secondly, the Vertex 4 has been out for a while now, which is probably another reason why the 3 is so cheap these days...

As Mentioned, the package description says OCZ Octane.
At least the rebate is through OCZ directly. The rebate form correctly calls out the Vertex 3.
Be aware, 1saleaday is slow to ship things out. I have an order from Aug. 17 that still in processing. The rebate requires it to be postmarked 30 days after purchase, not receipt of product.
I also hate rebates.
