Intel and Micron are IM Flash Technologies. They produce the NAND sold to OCZ regardless of what is stamped on the NAND.
Here's their facebook page [facebook.com], ask them if you want to hear it from them instead
It's absolute garbage coming from the reviews.
Don't understand why people keep buying these then complain about it after their's break.....
Some of us have good luck with OCZ. I have bought about 4 SSD's in the past 2 years from them and ZERO problems. I just bought (3) 120GB Vertex 2's and (3) 90GB Agility 3's to boost all the laptops in the house as well as slap some in parents desktops.
Hey I've been building computers for 5000 years since the start of the Abacus... Don't believe me? well... too bad...
Anyhow, you just can't compare SSD to a HDD, completely different use and needs that they fill. Sure a HDD can last 5 years, 10 years or more, but it can easily fail if a meteor fell on your house, destroying your precious HDD. Good lucky trying to do a recovery on those platters from a martian attack.
And like with any digital data, ALWAYS BACK UP!!! If you only have one copy, then you are 100% guaranteed to lose your work. Remember, life is not fair and those pesky meteors can and will target your data. Spread your risk. A RAID setup of your data IS NOT A SAFE SOLUTION.
In 5000 years of living, I can tell you that both the Romans and the Persians do not like to hear that their beloved virtual libraries of crudely drawn naked women to just disappear because of an act of god. Puts a lot of pressure on me, then I have to make a long distance call to P5X-543 and call in a favor from Ra. Last time Ra visited, he just lingered and loitered around as if there was no place better to be... Kind of sad really.
Actually, Intel has the best reliability out of all SSD manufacturers. Pretty much the reason why they hold such stiff price premiums, but most of their products are for enterprise solutions, not consumer grade.
But again, its all relative to what your needs are and my storage needs has always been higher than the average consumer.
I have been doing extensive search on this but so far no luck. I was able to know that I can update the firmware only by connecting the SSD to the Sata port in the pc & change the Sata setting to 'Compatibility' mode. The problem is in my XPS BIOS A06 (latest) I have only 2 options Just 'AHCI' or 'RAID'. Both are not good & firmware won't update. I am stuck with this issue any help would be appreciate. TIA.
From the .pdf ...
"Under drive configuration, check that SATA Mode is set to “IDE” (Example 2). If it’s not already set to “IDE”, change SATA mode from “AHCI” or “RAID” mode to “IDE” or “Compatibility” mode. Some systems have an additional SATA mode setting called “Native” or “Legacy”. In this case, set SATA mode to “Legacy”. SATA mode can and should be returned back to its original configuration after the firmware upgrade completes.
(Note: If you do not see any of the fore-mentioned mode options named specifically this way in your system’s BIOS, please note that BIOS terminology may differ from one motherboard manufacturer to the next. Therefore, the SATA mode option may appear as ATA, IDE, legacy, etc. Please consult your specific motherboard manufacturer’s documentation for more detailed information"
Now price after rebate shows $24.99.
Again came back to $34.99
