Thus, I've given up on headsets. At the very least the Razer Carcharias was a better product for the time it worked (and they'd do a replacement quicker by requiring only a photo with a good shot of the ID info for the headset and the slashed cord), but it was subject to that same problem.

I used a Sennheiser PC150 for about 7 years and never had any problems.

Recently upgraded to the Logitech G930 and I'm happy with them so far.

I used to own Steelseries 4H which were very comfortable. It looks as though the 5H and 7H are even more comfortable. Currently I own the Sony PS3 Wireless Headset which is extremely comfortable and is wireless but also costs almost 3x this. The Steelseries can be found for relatively cheap though.

I used my friend's 5H for a while before getting my Razer Banshee in, and between the 2, the Banshee is more comfortable and has a little better sound quality, but the 5H has a better overall package. It's cheaper but the mic on it is much more secure than the Banshee. The Banshee mic sucks actually, as it's attached to the headset with a 3.5mm adapter... I don't know wtf those idiots were thinking at R&D. It started getting loose within about 3 months, so I don't even use the mic on it anymore.

TLDR; 5H is awesome.

Bought mine for $20 AR at frys a year ago, I wear it anywhere from 3-8 hours a day, my ears are fine, detachable mic is perfect for eating

I bought one of these for about $20 in late April. The mic tends to be unreasonably quiet. To pick up speech effectively, the mic has to be so close that a normal breath can be picked up on it. Maybe this is unique to my pair, but I expected more from the product.

I am happier with the mic on the flimsy/cheap FAR headset I got from Fry's last Black Friday weekend.

I wouldn't get this.. had one and it wasn't great quality.

Still alive for me... to buy or not to buy...

I've owned two of these. 1 the mic stopped working after a year. And the other is still going strong. Banged them around, had my dog knock them off my desk (several hundred times) and as far as headphones, both pairs are going strong.

The Mic quality could be better, but it's not too bad. Never had an issue with people understanding me. Just random noises when I press to talk. (Could also be my computer but 4 different computers with the same problem???)
For a couple hours of wearing them they are just fine. I probably avg 2.5-3 hours in some sessions before they get uncomfortable.

I would recommend them, but I know there are better quality ones out there, just much more expensive. (Unfortunately paid full price both times for these. $49.99 Might pick up another pair for this price.... )

the quality of this depends on your soundcard and how u adjust it. i did not get the usb version but once i adjust the sound settings on my computer the sounds are crisp and loud compared to default. Great and comfortable headset for sub 30 dollar tag.

My ears get sore after about a couple hours even when I adjust the sides so that it sits loosely on my head. But I have the usb model if that makes any difference.

So I want just headphones... I'm waiting for a deal on Sennheiser HD428s, would these be comparable at all or are they in completely different leagues for listening to music?

Sometimes, their "IDs" aren't available or already taken, so they have to resort to using numbers instead of letters.

Other times, they might just like the way it looks.

Does it really bother you that much?
