Pretty sure only the new 600ex-rt and 580 series flashes can be used as masters, unless you go third party.

It can be a slave to any of the available Canon ETTL masters.

I don't believe the 430EXII can be a master, so that would be a no. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Also some cameras like the 7D and higher end cameras have a built in flash master function.

Great deal. I jumped. Been eyeing this for a long time. Was too late for the EBay deal for $124 a few days ago, this is another $5 cheaper. I have a 580EXII, 550EX and a 420EX. All are fairly big to drag along for the "just in case" scenario. This 270EXII and the pancake will make a nice little back up package that won't take up too much room and weight. Should also work well with the G10, the other flashes always make it horribly top heavy.

Sure, more powerful flash, can be bounced, further away from the center of the lens so less chance of red-eye to name a few.

I just started with a 60D and have been eyeing the 420ex. In what scenarios do you usually use it? Trying to decide if I need it. Thanks!
