Mine lasts a year without any sealant in NorCal.
Problem with the sealant is that it comes off after 2-3 car washes and you're out of luck.
Toothpaste will not get really bad oxidation off. You'll have to use sand paper.
Any relatively abrasive wax will also work. I have Meg's ScratchX 2.0 around and I use that.
If your oxidation is bad, the kit is definitely worth it.
I then bought the 3M product which worked fine, but took some serious scrubbing.
The kit works by removing the layer of oxidized plastic.
It will not polish off tempered glass.
Toothpaste polishes the oxidation, it doesn't remove it. Your lenses are cloudy within a few weeks using toothpaste. Go pour some Coke on your battery terminals while you are at it.
