Never did I once mention that SD was for younger people or vice versa. I am just stating that current fashion/style is non-pleated and non-cuffed. I am just stating that Nordstroms has those to appeal to different crowds, mainly the older crowds who would still buy them. To each his own.

There are very practical reasons why pleats are outdated. The whole point of pleats was to expand that part of the pant because people used to wear their pants much higher on their waist than they do now, so the pleats allowed for expansion around the belly. Now, people wear their pants lower and pleats are basically empty space that look awkward especially when sitting down. This is the main reason I don't care for pleats, I also think flat-fronted pants look crisper. Of course they still sell both and people still buy both.

If I walk around the Office right now, 80% of the guys are wearing pleats/cuffs. Now, I am sure if I went to the local job fair, college campus or unemployment line I am sure 80% of them would be wearing plain front un-cuffed pants. I think pleated/cuffed pants have more class.

Pleated w/ cuffs has been the style for hundreds of years. Its a classic look.

If you prefer the style of the day flat front w/o cuffs is ideal.

I own both. I prefer a classic look for formal occasions (including work) and cuffless flat fronts out at night.

I just think its laughable that people think the style of the day is going to be that way forever. Your parents spoke that way about the roomy leg room of bell bottoms.

And by office you mean the rest home you currently live in?

Anybody entering the work force these days would be best suited to buy flat front, uncuffed pants.

Pleats look funny on slim people. So if you're slim, stick with the flat fronts. If you're tubby, go with the pleats.

I'm not a stodgy old guy either. I do have to dress nice on occasion, when I go to court or meet clients, but pleats on me look like I'm wearing MC Hammer pants. No thanks.

Cuffs are still cool though. I wouldn't wear them all the time, but I have a traditional streak in me. Shoes gotta match the cuffs though.

Can't speak about preference but I can confirm that this is what I was told two weeks ago from a fashionable tailor for bespoke suits. Just my 2 cents

I prefer flat front, fitted pants myself since they apparently "fit" better. Clothes aren't worn just to cover your naughty bits. To each their own tho.
