WIth all of that being said I always assumed I'd be a "Nikon" guy, but with this deal I feel like this might be a very solid buy for a newbie, can anyone else recommend/confirm this would be a top-notch deal to get asap, or something I should pass on to learn more...
As for the deal, if you aren't into video, you should note that the same sensor is used in the t2i, t3i, t4i, 60d, and 7d. So you can get a t2i and get the same image quality as this camera. If you don't want the hassle of selling the printer (~$100 net) and don't need all the video features, the t2i would be just as good to learn on and would be a bit cheaper.

My quick comparison shows B&H at $1571 (before rebate) for the T4i, 18-135 STM lens, 55-250 IS II lens, Pixma 9000 printer and 50 sheets of paper.
Amazon is showing $1505 for the same plus the UV filter (a whopping $8 value, but I won't complain).
The delta is that B&H is charging $255 for the added lens before the $150 savings, while Amazon is only at $201. The printer is also $13 cheaper on Amazon.

I think it's working.
But how cheap is cheap? $500 good enough?
Since I'm sure we'll utilize the features and it can only go up from here I think this would be ok to start with for us, and thus would begin our uphill battle for macro, tilt-shift, etc.
Thanks again!

is it really likely a better deal like this will come up for black friday? While I have no MAJOR interest in the printer (if it does great photos I'll use it, or just resell it.) I do like the combined lens deal etc. etc. on amazon (thanks for that link btw.) With that said, is it very likely we'll see a killer combo deal that rivals this around black friday for the T4i (or a Nikon for that matter.)

Maybe that will overcome the taxes?

I don't think they'll lower the retail prices on the T4i much, but they might continue rebates and promotions. The T4i is probably the DSLR they make the most money on, since it has a decent profit margin and very large sales volume.

And the t4i is better at video than the 60D. It has continuous autofocus with STM lenses, which the 60D does not.
