Very good price, but after doing some research, I'm holding off to buy the whispure air purifier. Though I haven't owned one of these, people say that they tend to be loud. Still seems like a good unit though

I have these and they are extremely loud

Things you should know:
1) A HEPA vacuum cleaner is far more effective than a HEPA air-purifier
2) A HEPA air-purifier needs to be able to cycle the air in the room at absolute minimum twice an hour

So don't get too small a HEPA filter or put it on too slow a speed (so its quiet) that it can't really do anything for the room its in, and remember that regular vacuuming and dusting is going to pick up a LOT more allergens than whats actively floating in the air.

I have 2 of these and they are not "extremely" loud, you are out of your mind.. at the low and medium setting it is not that bad, maybe on the max setting is it louder where if you were watching tv with it in the room you wouldnt really be able to hear the audio very well, but overall this is a decent air purifier for a small room with all filters that can be vaccumed.. i've never replaced the pre-filter i just vaccume everything and its as good as new

I was looking at this weeks back when amazon was sold out. My mom had bad lung issues all month. I wanted a good filter to see if it would help. Someone posted info on using a good whole house merv filter on a box fan. quick trip to HD and a few deck screws later....shocked how good a job it does. Ugly...but have on low hidden under in a corner.

I needed something fast before I had to go home, so rigged it but it really cleans the air FAST. Now not sure if i want to only use the small one. Try it out if you have a 20inch box fan. Even a really great filter is only $20

only the ones floating in the air are going to give you any problems though, so I would say those are the priority which is why air filters are good to have.

Yes, you could say that... and be wrong. As you walk around, you kick up the ultra-light particles that get into the air. Remember, we're talking HEPA which means particles much smaller than visible dust.
