Also, the automated exchange at the HD near me stinks, it consistently tries to give me empty tanks and I have to go inside anyway.

$25 for the tank + $20 to fill = $45...they go for $45 new filled at every gas station around me... seems like more work for the same thing unless you can fill your own.

New tanks NEED to be purged. Many places charge a fee for this and some will not do it. Just something to be aware of.

I just exchange tanks at Wal-mart. I used to have my own tank because of a proprietary locking system, now that I don't, i just swap 'em when needed. Way easier and faster.

depends on how long it takes management to get out there and unlock it. took 20 minutes for me two diff times.

Discount warehouses in NC are filling for closer to $11-15. Prices constantly change. What's the price to exchange, something like $30?

ya last time took 25min for the 'employee' to unlock it and get one and then exchange for my old one...

never again exchange at walmart...

diff point they offer a brand new tank with small guage on it for $24.88 at my store

I've found (both in Los Angeles and Houston) that refills are in the 15-17# range. But the kicker is, they all have a 20# minimum purchase, so you have to pay for a full refill anyway.

Its just like the grocery store, they put less cereal in the same size box and you get to keep paying the same price! And most people are none-the-wiser.
