I bought this model couple weeks ago at 189.. boo

so far im loving it.

This is a great price. Very tempting. Never had much luck with my charcoal smoker but I am so close to giving this a try. It's the best price ever on amazon and around $40 less than anyplace else.

I just deleted this from my "save for later" cart today at around 180

I just threw mine away after 3 years. It was tripping my GFI outlet and if I used a standard outlet it shocked the hell out of me...obviously a short somewhere in there. Anyhow, it was rusting out and I already replaced the wiring when it melted through the factory stuff. That's the bad...

Now for the good...
It was a Godsend when it came to large cuts of meat that needed to smoke for a long time. There was no tending to coals all through the night, there was no worry about it getting too hot or too cold. It just plain old worked and did a fantastic job once broke in with a couple of big smokes.

If it was in my budget I would buy this right now, but I would check to see if it's the old model that had the problem I mentioned with the wires burning up. If it did, I'd upgrade them immediately before it got all smokey and not worry about it again.

Just my 2 cents.

The legs on my old smoker have about rusted out. I've had my eye on the 40", but the price is right on this one. Anybody know the inside demensions? I'm worrried a big packer brisket or some longer ribs wouldn't fit.

This is a great budget electric smoker for the average joe. Does a perfect job on low and slow smoking or cooking. I use mine for all kinds of meats and even some higher temperature dehydrating. Great price with the shipping included.

I bought this smoker a while back on Amazon for $179. This is great smoker, especially at this price.

How does this compare to the one with the window that was $200 a couple weeks back?

The window is a sales gimmick. You can't see in after you start smoking and it is a pain to clean after each use. It does have a built in meat temperature probe which will save you $20 or so. It also has a wireless remote which once again some call a sales gimmick. Normally you just set the temperature and let it go. The remote allows you to power the machine on and off along with change the temperature and timer. It will also show the temp of the meat probe which I like. I was able to watch football last weekend and see what the internal temp of my brisket was without having to go outside and look.

Subtract $20 for the meat thermometer so now you're talking about a $40 difference. Before the new models came out the price difference was $80 or so on Amazon and Wal-mart. It is more of a personal preference. Is the window, wireless remote, stainless front and the time it would take to return your current one worth $40 to you? I was debating between this model and the model with the window. I wouldn't have paid $270 but when I saw it on Sears for $20 more than the standard model at $200 I jumped on it.
