Will this max out my SATA interface if I used RAID 0 on these 128GB or the 256GB? I thought about 256GB x2, but I don't think I need that much space for SSD stuff. I have a revodrive 80GB as my bootdrive from a couple years ago that I could always put some stuff on too.

I just bought an Apple Macbook Pro with an SSD drive. I thought the entry level 128 SSD would be enough. Boy was I wrong! I am sitting here trying to figure out what to delete to survive the day. Adobe CS 5 Master, iWorks, Microsoft Office, etc. adds up quickly along with apps for synced iPhone and iPads.

I am thinking about picking up one of these drives to replace the superdrive on the notebook. I heard that the speed is not the same on the superdrive cable. I am more worried about reliability than anything. If an SSD drive fails, it becomes read only vs. a regular HDD becoming inoperable?

Either way I cannot believe how quickly SSD drive prices have crashed this year. I would like to pick up a few 256 or 512 drives on Black Friday. Praying for specials..... =D

You might be able to save some space by doing custom install on each of those apps. All of them install a ton of things/functions you might not need and could save some space. For example, sample MS Word files and useless document templates etc.

Also use this http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/ program to remove the extra language packs and printer drivers OS X installs by default.

I just ordered, and it is already listed as "packaging" (in the order status).

Anybody know if an additional cable is needed (separate purchase) to connect the SSD to the motherboard? If so, which cable, and how much does it cost?

I just bought a new motherboard -- would most motherboards include any needed cable to attach this SSD to it?

Was just about to bite on this when it got removed from my cart. Well I guess it's a sign that I should wait until BF for a 256GB SSD... Kinda wanted a SSD for my laptop, but I suppose that'll have to wait. At least my Intel SSD from 2 years ago is still running strong in my desktop!
