Update: Coupon worked perfectly! Bought the Toshiba for $400. Used Discover card which is currently offering 5% CB on all online purchases. That would make it even cheaper

From what I remember reading before, seems like it's just standard language that they put in there because of some deal with HP. In particular, a lot of these coupons say it's not for HP ink but it works when the cashier scans the coupon.
ETA - I just tried the coupon on a the Lenovo Twist (Windows 8) and it seems to work on this as well.
