I and my family have owned over a dozen Canon Point-and-Shoots and we've only had 1 'lens error' camera and canon did (and will) cover that under warranty. Complainers complain and doers do, Canon makes great cameras.

I bought 3 cameras of Canon and all three failed with the lens issue. I will not buy Canon anymore. Now I have one Panasonic (pocket) and Nikon DSLR.

I've had the lens issue also but also purchased another canon and so far so good.

I bought this camera in August for a trip to China. It takes AWESOME low light pictures and overall high quality shots with little hassle. I'm not a particularly good photographer but my shots looked solid. The battery drains super fast so buy 3 or 4 on ebay. I am very happy with my camera at that priceand would do it again.

I was taking pictures at a wedding with this camera (not professionally). I slipped it out of my pocket and the lens wouldn't open. They had to make some compromises for the size of the lens, so the lens cover is kind of fragile. However, it was under warranty so it only cost like 10 dollars in shipping to have it fixed by the canon repair center.

All in all, good camera. But if I had my druthers, I would have gotten a 100-310HS. Especially since my camera can't change the bit rate of HD video recording (capped at around 4 MB/s) and they've stopped developing for it on CHDK so I'm kind of out of luck. LOVE CANON though.

Lens are definitely fragile. Broke 2 other lens from the SD series.

Damn I would have bought this if it wasn't already sold out. It's a shame some have had problems with some Canon Point and shoots. I just took good care of the one I had and it was fine for years...until it got doused with saltwater...oops...Their DSLRs are workhorses, reliable, and are some of the best, alongside their top competitor Nikon.
