The XPS 8500 has a 460W power supply and is a better option than a typical HP and Gateway PC if you plan a graphics upgrade. If I remember correctly, this is the best straight PC deal on an i7-based XPS 8500 we have seen. Most previous deals involved PC/LCD bundles and/or gift cards.

if you were to assemble a similar system from microcenter, it wouldnt cost more than 500.
with 550, you could get the 3770k, the overclockable cpu and a great mobo.

You cant overclock this system anyways, so the K would be irrelevant. If you planned on buying and stripping, you can probably do better with components elsewhere.

I ordered a few days ago with $750 .
I talked to Dell , they'll price match with their price.

Need 550w PSU and some Sata 3 ports on the mobo to make this hotter. I think this is cutting it close if you want to throw in a high end card. SSD needs sata 3 to be a practical upgrade. Besides that, the CPU is worth $300, disc drive $20, memory $40, hdd $80, mobo $40 (probably), PSU ($30-40) and the case, keyboard and mouse are $50. Close to $550-580 to end up with this build net of a windows license, so you can build it for this and save between $50-100 (assuming you pay for a windows license.........), you'd probably get a nicer mobo and psu if you were going to build this though.

EDIT: That figure didn't include the grx card price. I would guess the grx card is worth $60 maybe, so this is coming close to build price.

these will be sub 500 nearing holidays ...the desktop (sad to say 4 the older then 40 generation) is obsolete to be honest the lappies in the next few years will be right behind them ..as tabs will have extreme processing power along with graphics for gaming ...but we can always give our old lappies to our grannies ...mine turns 55 next week lol
