I agree with Zerox. I bought 2 units of the same inland product, which were clearly indicated in the rebate as being qualified, from fry's. I was only given a rebate check for 1 while the other was rejected claiming I exceeded the maximum amount allowed. I contacted them by email several times but never heard anything back. I had to contact Fry's for help, and they were the one that had to send me a check.

Be careful with any inland rebate.

I am going to disagree with you sorry. It depends on what kind of notebook cooler you buy. A lot of them are junk but some of them are good, I had plenty of luck with my Antec cooler until the little connector broke. That is my biggest gripe with notebook coolers, the connectors they use are extremely fragile.

It depends on what kind of cooling you need, propping the laptop up helps a little, but if you have more sever issues you may want a metal surface to put it on. If that does not help then you need a cooler with fans.

The metal surface helps by increasing the surface area thus giving the internal heat sink fan more time to catch up with cooling. Using fans if placed correctly help create better airflow.
