You can trade in your old one to cover the core charge, and the charge will be refunded back to your card. While doing the battery installation, my local AAP was also kind enough to install new terminals to replace the 10+ year old ones, at the cost of around $4 each. As stated Before Gold Batteries Come with 7 Years (3 yrs. free replacement & 4 yr. prorated) warranty. Silver batteries come with 6 years (2 year free replacement and 4 yrs. prorated) replacement warranty.
As a note, using the 40% off alone gets you a top tier battery with better warranty at the price of the crap battery.
