Do you think if I just borrow a Costco membership number from a family member will that work? Can I use a gift card at the gas pumps w/o having a physical membership card with me? I wonder if you borrow a number if they cross check to see if it your online information matches your membership card name and address.

You can buy gas with a Costco gift card at their gas station without a membership card. I think you can even go into the store and make purchase with a Costco GC without a need for a membership card.

they moan at register but they have to honor it !

I have this same problem, but if you are friend with any of your other account, you should be able to see what deals you have synced with your other card. Using that, you can click on the deal to add it on card that does not have the offer show up yet.
