excellent camera and lens selection a big plus.

I use this camera for a lot of paid photography and video work. It is absolutely fantastic. The major drawback is poor AF, especially in low light. For this price, that is definitely something you can learn to work around. I think a lot of people would benefit from getting off the fence and buying *something*, whether it is this camera or a different one, and getting out with it and finding out what its capabilities are.

As for weather sealing, it is not guaranteed, but I have used mine in a number of rainstorms without any "protection" and it has never given me a hint of trouble.

Perhaps the ugliest camera ever made? EVER...

I thought so too untill I got one for review. It looks very nice in hand. Online pictures don't do it justice since it is not a stereotypical design.

Calm down man. It's technically not an SLR, because it doesn't have a mirror system, but it's basically a K-5 without the mirror or viewfinder. It uses SLR lenses, and in the grand scheme of things, i.e. for someone that's not a diehard photo nerd, it's as close to an SLR as not.

Read Michael Reichmann's "What to Call it?" from his a99 review. It is written about the Sony a99, an SLT, but it is just as applicable to this situation:

Did the firmware update help at all with the poor AF?

Will the KAF lenses from my Pentax ZX-50 film SLR work with this?
