This is a nice deal for the capacity and speed. Around $.16/GB compared to 3-4x for the typical SSD deal.

Picking one up to use in conjunction with a 64GB SSD in SRT on my Z77 mobo. Cheap and relatively fast setup for the money.

A raid 0 with any 7200rpm drives will spank this and be half the $/GB of this. Unless you are completely limited to one drive this is not a smart buy.

good deal if you raid them for storage, otherwise, SSD + 5.4k is much better for most consumer.

This assumes
1. You know how to RAID (Bios configuration, RAID Level, Driver installation)
2. You know RAID's can fail
3. You have a recovery plan for RAID failure
4. RAID will increase boot time (option rom loading)

True 2 and 3 can happen to single drives.
With raid you increase you're chance of failure on your logical disk by 50%

Most SD-ers aren't on technical par to Maintain RAID.

Maybe true, but it can't spank the 5 yrs warranty and durability of the VelociRaptors. Apples and oranges comparison. Might as well throw in a cheap small ssd+5400rpm storage drive with that logic. Different people will have different needs and setup. It's a good buy if you're in the market for a raptor.
