I've read somewhere that going from a D5000 to a D5100 is not much of an upgrade.
I wish I could afford a D7000 for the extra features such a a built in motor in the body which will allow you to autofocus on non-DX lenses. The D5100 also does not allow you to do a mirror lock up but the D7000 can. The D7000 has more external controls allowing you to switch to certain settings quicker. D7000 has a faster shutter speed and is weather sealed. Even though they both use the same sensor which will get you about the same image quality the D7000 will give you more advanced features.
This price is tempting.
Look at the price for the D5000. I think this price might be the lowest for some time. Otherwise the difference between this and the D5200 will be huge reducing the D5200 sales.
The price might even go up once the D5200 is released here.
Edit: Can you please enlighten us with the source of your information?
