I was not charged tax with this deal. I was charged tax when I ordered from the Apple store (yes I bought 2 of them). I live in Seattle, WA.
According to the info on Ebay these come with a brand new battery and the previous OS (that would be iOS 5 or maybe 5.1 according to the guy who posted above). They basically look and work brand new with quality inspection done by Apple.

Am I right that you can't get a Squaretrade plan for refurbs? Is it worth getting...I almost think I'd be happy to give up the 16gb storage for peace of mind if I drop the thing.
all apple refurbish gets a new shell so it is completely new in appearance.
