Don't know the answer to your question but my toaster oven did make the annoying DING so I opened it up and put a snug-fitting thick rubber band around the bell. Problem solved.

For those wondering. This one definetly makes the 'ding' sound. I personally like the sound, lets me know my food is done.

Not Dead. Just finished placing order for in-store pickup. Do as the gohorns3 suggested and in search box enter "Black Decker Toaster Oven". The direct link did take me to another listing by 3rd party. After search, it gave the low price one sold by Sears.

Much more cost effective for me (time is money) than trying to remove the junk caked into current toaster oven
