NON-Cablecard unit
Cannot record FIOS/Non-OTA channels if on Comcast.
Statement above is erroneous. Verizon FiOS transmits "broadcast" channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CW...) in Clear QAM which this tuner can and does receive.
Major cable companies aregoing allowed to encrypt on all channels - so in your area this unit might only be good for OTA in the future... http://www.fcc.gov/document/commi...rohibition
I leave that post above. Whomever edited my post did not understand what the FCC has recently ruled. The Cable companies can encrypt the free OTA channels such that the consumer will need a cable card device to access ANY channels (not just premium or cable channels). Obvously they lobbied the FCC for a reason, the majors will be encypting all the channels shortly. hence - do not buy this device.

there's an app called instaTV that streams directly from unit to ipad. it's working fine for me!
