Keep in mind that Samsung 840 uses cheaper/slower components than the 830.
Only the 840 Pro should be considered an upgrade over 830.

To be more specific, it uses low-cost TLC NAND flash memory, commonly found in low-end flash drives, GPS, and other devices where the number of lifetime writes is relatively low. Samsung is the first drive to offer a TLC SSD drive, making it a high density / low cost alternatively to MLC drives, such as the 840 Pro and it's older 830 series.

Also keep in mind that although it is not the 840 Pro, it is *much* cheaper, and speeds are really good compared to almost all modern SSDs. It also significantly outperforms older SSDs like the Intel 320.
No, it is doubtful this drive lifts.
