The Last of the Mohicans: Director's Definitive Cut (Blu-ray) $4 (expired)

I was wondering too. If this isnt remastered, its probably going to look like crap. The DVD was pretty bad like many older films put on DVD discs.

Also, what worries me is the reviews on the cut. The theatrical version was the best version by far and id wonder what is in this cut of it. Read the reviews on amazon to see what I mean.

This is such a great film though, for $4 its probably worth it since I only own the DVD as of now. However I also dont want to waste $4 if its going to look near the same and be similar cut to the DVD I have.

Video quality doesn't look very good based on those screens.

Of course, remember, its a movie from the 1990's. Thats pretty much true for any older film. If you actually read what they said, its overall pretty good.

On another note, it looks like this blu-ray is only this directors cut of the film, it does not include the theatrical version which many have determined is the best cut of the film. <Sad face> This cut of the film apparently falls between the (unliked) directors cut DVD version and the theatrical.

Agreed. The theatrical version is amazing; this and it are practically two different movies in terms of tone. Anyone have a link to where I could acquire it on DVD?

So I guess the theatrical release was longest, the DVD release was shortest, and this director's cut is in between. This review is very complimentary of the Blu-ray, btw.

The quality is not acceptable for me which is why I removed it from my basket as I pondered whether or not to pick it up. I will wait for a better transfer if one ever sees the light of day. The review and discussion at avsforum.com was enough to make me give it a a pass.

Good overview here, with some comments on what has been changed/removed. I fall into the "loved the original theatrical release on VHS" camp, and was hesitant to order this. After reading this piece from DVDTalk, I'm now in for one.
