Reviews seem to indicate this is great for what it is, but don't expect anything more than that. I think this is a really good deal if you are in the market for an inexpensive but good TN panel in this size range. I'd really like a higher resolution 27-inch myself, but those are 6x the price!

Now I'm building my very first computer soon in 2-3 weeks. What's the chance a better monitor deal appears during Christmas season next month???

This will work, but is a minor DIY project because you will want it supported at two points and also on the stud. So you could just take a piece of wood, screw it into the stud, and then mount the LCD on that. I hope this makes sense..
As far as a better deal coming up in the next few weeks, I would say chances are pretty good. At least one within $20 of this.

But in terms of a better deal, you're saying there is a good chance there might and will be a greater deal than now or you're saying pretty good chance of not seeing another deal like this?
If there is a chance for better deal, I can hold for several weeks until I start building my computer and I do have my temporary 2 half-dead half-hearted half-busted monitors to use until I find a deal but hopefully before New Years.

I don't think making it vertical will be very hard at all, as long as you are comfortable with a power drill and maybe a circular saw. I bought some basic Rosewill LCD mounts for $10 each a while back. They have two parts - one which mounts on a stud through 2 vertical holes, and the other which mounts onto the back of your monitor. Then you can slide them into each other and you're done. You can do this sideways as long as you have something in between the wall and the mount to ensure it is mounted securely on your stud.
If you have a wobbly desk these monitors have more of a tendency to shake a bit (never an issue on a stable desk)

I was trying to find a decent monitor with a portrait orientation. The cheapest is around $200....
They put out TN panels with vertical stands but they do not work! You can't see what is displayed on the screen.
http://stores.ebay.com/CPUtopia-Store may also have the item cheaper, so check there before you place an order.
